If you notice, both the shivites and the vishnavites believed in those days that there is no other god except Shiva or Vishnu respectively. A little sad, but heartening considering where we stand today. Now we are a larger society with people of different beliefs coming under a single umbrella. (meaning there is not as much divide btw shivites and vish'tes). There is a school of thought that globalization will create global societies in which people from different countries come under a single society. It seams the past, present and the future lies in a straigt line! Any thoughts?

Maayaa, I have also found better known but little understood vishnavite peoms like ThiruppAvai and ThiruppalAndu very inspiring and rich in meaning. May be you can try your hand in it some time too!

well, I like this globalisation. there is no such nonsense of who is the only one..i think its just waste of time..

all we should learn from past is how much bhakti everybody had for their respective deity!!!

I think there is just the one who is in different forms..

"It seams the past, present and the future lies in a straigt line"
What do u mean by that??

well , for thiruppaivai there must be a well written meaning avilable online.. may be i can copy them here.. if there is no word to word available , i will try giving a shot..

Quick news abotu thiruppavai.

Venkatesa Perumal has Lakshmi in his chest. They simply cant be separated, for any reason. But when they clean in thirupathi, the time during which they remove Lakshmi from the chest of perumaal, they start singing Thiruppavai. It is a belief that perumal, mesmerised in the thiruppavai doesnt even mind Lakshmi being removed from him..

If perumal can get mesmerised with Thiruppaavai, think about humans :)

That was my own stupid way of saying that the future seams to be predictable.
